Speaking at a presentation flanked by her Zimbabwean counterparts, Home Affairs Minister Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula today announced that Zimbabweans will no longer need to apply and pay for visas before travelling to South Africa. They will now be able to apply for a free 90-day visitor's permit at the border.

She also said that Zimbabweans may also apply to do casual work while in South Africa.

Many of the Zimbabweans who apply for asylum status each day are now expected to opt for the visitor's permit.
