Kyalami gears up for world superbikes

Local superbikes in action at Kyalami
The Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit in Midrand will be a hive of activity this weekend when the sixth round of the 2009 World Superbike Championship takes place. Members of the public will be able to get a free preview of the machines that will be out on the circuit over the weekend during this afternoon's Free Open Paddock. The circuit gates will be open from 13h30 to 18h00 and spectators will be given access to the pitlane and some of the riders will be in attendance to sign autographs.

A limited number of free tickets to Friday's practice session will also be given away this afternoon.

On Friday the practice sessions get underway for the Worls Superbikes with a free practice from 12h45 to 13h45. They will also have a qualifying practice between 15h30 and 16h30. The World Supersports will be on track between 14h00 and 14h45 and between 16h45 and 17h30. The local Superbikes will be on track from 11h45 to 12h15 and local Supersport from 14h50 until 15h20.

Saturday's practice sessions get underway at 8h45 with the Superbike Superpole sessions starting at 15h00. The day's proceedings will come to an end after the local racing bikes finish their final practice sesion of the day at about 17h20.

Race day is on Sunday with the World Superbikes taking to the track for a warm up session at 9h20. The World Supersports will follow them at 9h50. The local Superbikes take to the circuit for their first race at 10h20 before the firstof the World Superbike races gets underway at 12h00. World Supersport have their turn at 13h25 followed by their local counterparts at 14h20. The second World Superbike race starts at 15h30 with the local superbikes bring the event to a close with their final race at 16h45.

Tickets for the event can be obtained from Computicket. No tickets will be on sale at the venue.
